My Familiar-June 1, 2007

Well, I wasn't sure if it would happen, but it has! The publishing of My Familiar is underway and will be available by June 1, 2007.

While being a story in the same setting as The Shadow Within, it will be a completely separate story with all new characters. However, if you pay attention some of the Shadow Within characters are either mentioned or make small guest appearances :-)

Here is a brief description of the story:

16 year old Nikki Blake is looking forward to the end of her Sophmore year, except for a few problems. The Prom Night Car Jacking has made all the parents freakishly overprotective. And there is the slight problem Nikki has had since her birthday being around boys. But, the biggest problem for Nikki is that her best friend, the pragmatic down to earth Robert Weston, is suddenly eating flies and spouting nonsense about her sister's new boyfriend that belongs in a fairy tale novel. Nikki has always trusted Robert, but it seems as though that trust may have been mistakenly placed. And this mistake may be the last one she makes.

So, keep an eye out in June, 2007. The book will be available through amazon.com and barnesandnoble.com and hopefully at other bookstores around the country. If you can't find it, ask for it, and the store should be able to order it for you.

Year One, Almost Done!

For those of you who don't know (which I'm guessing is quite a few) next month my young adult urban fantasy novel, "The Shadow Within", will be one year old. Of course, this doesn't include the two years gestation prior to publication! If you are the curious sort, you might ask, "What book is that? I've never heard of it." Well, "The Shadow Within" is the story of a high school senior named Jessie and what happens when she accidentally meets two teen boys who are not at all who they seem to be. As to why you've never heard of it? It would probably be because it's still quietly building it's own little fan base and is only available online and at one small book store (The World Eye Book Store) in Greenfield, MA. Still curious? Writing and publishing a book has been a time consuming, terrifying, exciting, overwhelming and rewarding experience. The thing that makes me the happiest about having written are all the people who tell me that they have enjoyed "The Shadow Within". In particular I'm always flattered when people ask me about the characters and about what I'm planning for them next. So, if you have read the book and have a question or even just want to drop me a note, please feel free because I looooove feedback!!

I guess I must either be really happy about it or a sucker for punishment because I'm getting ready to do it all over again with my next novel, "My Familiar". Although "My Familiar" isn't truly the sequel everyone has been asking for, it is a parallel story with mention of, and special guest appearances by, some of Shadow's characters. But, don't worry, Jessie and crew will have another story of their own (hopefully) soon. I'm working on it now.

Although I'm new to the world of Blogger I plan to come back and post as often as I can. So, I hope to see all of you again soon! In the meantime I'll leave you with a couple special pics for you to take a look at!
